So this morning we said goodbye to Daddy, yet again, for the month. Ahhh army life. It is certainly a love hate relationship. Luckily we were able to spend the weekend together, and on the beach (hence the “love” part of our relationship with the army 😉 )
We decided to visit the west side of the island and pop into Aulani, the new(ish) Disney resort for lunch and maybe some swimming. It is the rainy season here and we haven’t had much luck at the beaches for quite awhile so we weren’t holding out too much hope on the swimming front.
When we got there we immediately saw chip and dale greeting guests! What a treat for little bean! Then we made our way down to one of the awesome open air restaurants to get some lunch.
After lunch we ventured to the beach and had a great time swimming in their closed lagoon! the surf at our regular beaches is just too rough for little bean to swim in at this time of year, so she had a blast revisiting the ocean! After some swimming, and sand castle
destroying building, we made our way back to the car, stopping to say a quick hello to Goofy and Stitch! All in all a great day!
This morning was a different story. Up at the crack of dawn to see daddy off on his trip to Korea and Japan. It was a chilly Hawaiian morning so after putting bean down for her nap I decided to make myself a healthy warm treat!
This broiled grapefruit with honey is my favorite way to eat grapefruit! Even the dry, not so yummy grapefruits come out juicy, sweet and delicious when prepared this way!
Simply cut your grapefruit in half, and place cut side up on a baking sheet. Set your oven to broil and cook your grapefruit for 5-7 minutes depending on taste. I like mine with slightly a slightly burnt rind. The flesh of the fruit will puff up, this is normal 🙂
Immediately after removing it from the oven, drizzle with honey, and transfer to a bowl. Let cool, and enjoy!! I like mine warm and gooey 😉
